Morton Amsterdam,DDS,ScD

モートン・アムステルダム先生は「歯周補綴の父」と称され、歯周病学と補綴修復学分野において多大なる影響を与えた先生です。

モートン・アムステルダム先生はペンシルベニア大学教養学部を1943年に、歯学部を1945年に卒業。1953年から教員となり、1967年から1992年の退職まで歯周病学・歯周補綴学の教授を務めました。

ペンシルベニア大学歯学部のDenis Kinane学部長は、アムステルダム先生を唯一無二の先駆者かつ、臨床医そして教育者であったと評し、同大学の歯周病学・歯周補綴学のリーダーシップとして伝統を築き、世界中に拡がるその分野の指導者たちを数多く育成した最高の臨床家だったと称えています。

"One of our great difficulties in dental education has been to develop 'biologically-oriented' clinicians."

"A 'biologically-oriented' clinician is not a Ph.D. in basic science who also dabbles in clinical practice or a clinician who dabbles in pseudo-research. Rather he should be a clinician totally knowledgeable about the basic science aspects of his field, who intelligently uses this information in the treatment of his patients and their relevant problems."
